After we bought our round trip tickets to Rwanda, arrived in Kigali, and started working at the school, we realized that the students were only going to be in session for five of the eight weeks of our stay. This came as a bit of a shock to us as we had expected to be teaching for the entirety of the trip, but as with everything else here, we did some improvising. So for the last three weeks, we are enjoying a short holiday, and holding a sort of “Vacation Bible School” for P5 students, which will be followed by a week of English and computer training for teachers. So we had our last day of class with P4 last week, and I have to say I was really sad to say goodbye to 60 of my favourite students! The last day dissolved into a photo shoot and the kids were more than enthusiastic to have their pictures taken! They were also slightly excited about the stickers I gave them right before the end of class, as you will see evidenced in some of the pics. There were several hundred pictures on my phone by the end of the day, so here is a sampling of the best!
